Lawrence Blankenbyl
Lawrence is a New Zealand director based in London and Vienna.
His film work has been widely recognised, including winning a Gold Lion at Cannes, Silver at the One Show, being featured in Shots Magazine, selection in the Locarno Film Festival and the Edi Awards. He received a grant from Benetton’s Creative Research Centre, Fabrica, in the north of Italy, worked for several years as the Creative Director at The Sweet Shop as well as earning the curious title of the New Zealand Design Ambassador.
Lawrence’s films often have a touch of visual surrealism and a dash of humour. His background in design and documentary have shaped his commercial work to be both highly visual whilst maintaining an authentic atmosphere.
He has worked with many agencies and brands, including: Louis Vuitton, BMW, TONI&GUY, Virgin, Panasonic, Universal Music & EMI. Lawrence is represented by Pretzel Films in London and works as an independent filmmaker in Austria. Contact: lawrence(dot)blankenbyl(at)gmail(dot)com.
